Ghana Armed Forces College of Nursing And Midwifery, a prestigious institution dedicated to excellence in nursing and midwifery education. Established in July 1941 as the training wing of the 37 Military Hospital—the same year the hospital was built—our university has a rich history of shaping professional healthcare practitioners in Ghana. We take pride in being one of the pioneers of nursing education in the country, following in the footsteps of Korle-Bu, Accra, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, and Agogo Presbyterian Hospital. Our programs are fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC), ensuring that our graduates meet the highest professional standards.

Major Bright Attah Addae is a highly accomplished nursing educator, clinician, and leader with over 24 years of experience spanning education, clinical practice, and military healthcare. As the Acting Principal of the Ghana Armed Forces College of Nursing and Midwifery (GAFCONM) at the 37 Military Hospital, Major Addae exemplifies a commitment to excellence, innovation, and transformative leadership in nursing and midwifery education. A passionate advocate for advancing healthcare education, he has been instrumental in the strategic reform of the College, leading historic initiatives such as securing university affiliation, professional accreditation, and the successful transition of the institution into a degree-awarding college after 84 years of existence.

Academic Qualifications

Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Nursing — University of Ghana, Legon (2012–2014). Nursing Qualitative Research 900 Practicum — University of Alberta, Canada (May–July 2013). Diploma in Military Studies — Ghana Military Academy, Teshie-Accra (2010). Bachelor of Arts in Nursing with Psychology — University of Ghana, Legon (2003–2007). Advanced Diploma in Nurse Anaesthesia — School of Anaesthesia (2004–2006). State Registered Nurse (SRN) — Ghana Armed Forces College of Nursing and Midwifery (1998–2001).
